Not Like Us confronts themes of exclusion, division, and racial disparity. The split face—a stark contrast between textured white plaster and a coffee-stained brown surface—symbolizes the fractures within society. This 3D artwork speaks to my experience of being "othered," a reflection on racial injustice, political polarization, and the widening ideological divide.
The brown half, painted with coffee, is rich, organic, and raw, a nod to the lived experiences of marginalized communities, while the stark white plaster side represents the rigidity and dominance of structures that uphold exclusion and supremacist ideologies.
For me, this 3D artwork represents a commentary on racism, white supremacy, and the inability to see eye to eye as a society. The physical separation and misalignment of the two halves reflects the chasm between left and right political factions and the relentless tension between history and progress.
Not Like Us is both a personal reflection and a societal critique, urging discourse about belonging, identity, and the structures that determine who is seen, heard, and valued.
